TomeReader (“we”, “us”) operates the website at tomereader.app. This policy explains what information is collected when you use the site, who it is shared with, and the choices you have — including a one-click way to turn off personalized advertising.

TomeReader has no user accounts and no login. We never ask for your name, email address, or payment details, and we do not sell personal information.

Information stored on your device

Your reading progress, bookmarks, saved bookshelf, reading history, theme choice, typography settings, and your ad-personalization preference are stored in your browser's local storage. This data stays on your device, is not transmitted to us, and is not tied to any account. Clearing your browser data erases it.

Information collected automatically

Our hosting provider (Vercel) records standard server log data — IP address, browser user agent, requested URL, and timestamp — for performance, reliability, and security monitoring.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages and books people read, in aggregate. Google Analytics sets cookies and processes your IP address to do this. We do not use it to identify individual visitors. You can prevent Google Analytics from collecting your data by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Advertising

TomeReader is free to use and is supported by advertising. We use Google AdSense to display ads.

• Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on this site.
• Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to TomeReader and/or other sites on the internet.
• Third-party vendors and ad networks may also use cookies, web beacons, or similar technologies to measure ad performance and limit how often you see the same ad.
• Non-personalized ads still use cookies for frequency capping, aggregated ad reporting, and fraud prevention — but not to build an interest profile of you.

Third-party content

Book texts and metadata come from Project Gutenberg, and audio narration comes from LibriVox. Cover images and audio files may be loaded directly from those services, which means your browser contacts them and they may record their own server logs. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies.

Children's privacy

TomeReader is a general-audience site and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

We may update this policy from time to time. The “last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
